Artist Statement
I have always been intrigued by humans, specifically how we work and how we are all different. Since I started my photographic journey in school, I have been exploring bodies, personalities, and psychology in my work with my interest in the human psyche and form ever growing. A large portion of work may be considered Satire or comedic; I get more enjoyment working on photographs that I find humorous. Also, being able to make somebody laugh with my imagery is something I take great pleasure from.
I am influenced considerably by cinema and the media, specifically by retro and classic movies. I consider my subjects to be playing a character in the narrative of my imagery, just like a film. My attraction to anything strange, warped, and abstract stems from my love of horror and the often-disturbing characters it generates.
My aim is to have my imagery intrigue and sometimes even confuse people; something that will make you double take and spark a reaction of some kind. I specialise in portraiture, with a large portion of my work being self-portraits. I enjoy the contrast between working solely by myself, producing work entirely how I envision and working with other creatives, forming joint ideas and concepts.
